Dalmation and Roan Cavy Club Rules
1. The name of the club shall be the
Dalmation and Roan Cavy Club ( D & R CC ) whose objects are to promote the
breeding of Dalmation and Roan cavies and to support shows that cater for our
clubs breeds. D & R CC does not condone or encourage the pairing of
Dalmation x Dalmation or Roan x Roan.
2. The D & R CC fully subscribe to the objectives of the British Cavy Council ( BCC ). In particular accepting the BCC code of practice for affiliated clubs and its regulations on disciplinary action taken by specialist clubs against its members.
3. The management of the club shall be vested in the Executive consisting of the President, Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary / Treasurer and a Committee of not more than six members, who shall be elected bi-annually by a full ballot of the members. In addition to these a BCC representative and vice-representative shall be elected from within the Executive as and when required. The club may also at its discretion create Honorary Life Vice Presidents who shall have full voting rights. No persons under the age of 18 years may be nominated for the Executive. All nominations for the Executive must have been fully paid up members for at least the previous five years.
4. The panel of Judges shall consist of D & R CC accredited Judges. A full bi-annual ballot of members shall be held to decide the 10 Judges who in addition to the life Judges shall be used for premier shows. All new nominations for the judging panel must have successfully completed the accreditation course of the D & R CC. Only fully paid up members for at least the previous five years shall be eligible to undertake the accreditation course.
5. Any person shall be eligible for membership from the date of their 7th birthday.
6. Every candidate for membership shall be supplied with a copy of the rules and standards of the club on payment by such person of his or her subscription. After acceptance of his or her application for membership, it shall be deemed to indicate that such persons will observe and be bound by these rules.
7. No alteration, deletion or addition may be made to these rules except by a majority of votes cast at an AGM of the club, or by any changes and additions decided by the BCC. Any existing or new rules of the club must not conflict in any way with BCC Rules.
8. Any person who shall fail to renew his or her subscription by 31st March in any one year shall cease to be a member and in the case of club officers and judges, shall be deemed to have resigned from any office held and/or judging panel, provided that the Secretary shall have notified such officials of their default not later than 15th March.
9. No member of the Executive shall continue in office if he or she ceases to be a bona-fide member of the club or is under suspension.
10. Subscription rates shall be decided at the AGM and the subscription period shall run from the 1st January to 31st December.
11. An Annual General Meeting shall be held each year.
12. The club shall hold a minimum of three cup shows each year, at least one cup show should be held north of Birmingham. These plus additional venues to be decided by the Club Secretary.
13. A Championship Certificate will be granted to any member owning a Cavy which has won five first prizes in breed classes as recognised by the D & R CC, with three entries or more per class and the minimum of two exhibitors. The initial claim must have at least two wins in adult breed classes, subsequent wins must have five adult breed class wins. Wins can only be claimed from the date of membership. All wins to be under a judge officiating at a D & R CC show or National, Southern, Midland, Northern and Scottish Cavy Club panel Judge. All claims to be forwarded to the Secretary. Only one win is permitted for any one cavy at any one show.
14. The Committee may, in its absolute discretion accept, refuse, suspend or discontinue the membership of any person or persons, if they have reason to believe that it will not be in the interest of the club to admit or continue such membership.

Dalmation and Roan Cavy Club Complaints Procedure
Should any occasion arise that gives cause for complaint, then the
complainant must write to the Chairman within 30 days of the alleged offence
taking place stating the nature of the complaint along with a deposit of £50.
The Chairman shall within 14 days of receiving the complaint write to the respondent stating the nature of the complaint, giving the respondent 14 days to reply to the allegation. When a reply to the allegation has been received the Chairman shall convene a meeting consisting of the Chairman and four Executive members to hear the complaint. Both the complainant and respondent to be given 14 days notice of the time, date and venue of the meeting and offering both parties the chance to speak on their own behalf at the hearing if they so wish.
Once the Committee have deliberated upon the complaint they must through the Chairman make known their findings within 14 days to both parties along with any disciplinary action they feel is appropriate.
Both the complainant and the respondent have the right to appeal to the Chairman against the Committees decision within 14 days of receiving the result. An appeals Committee consisting of the President and four Executive members not involved in the original complaint shall meet to determine whether the action taken by the original Committee was fair and just.
The appeals Committee shall have the power to uphold, rescind or otherwise alter any disciplinary action taken against a member and their findings will be final and conclusive within the remit of the D&RCC.
If a complaint is found to be frivolous, unfounded or malicious then the deposit will be forfeited. The Executive will announce the findings of the complaint in an appropriate manner to be decided at the time.
All correspondence relating to complaints to be sent by recorded delivery.
